The IRFL Videos
These four videos teach phonics using the I Read For Life method of sounds associated with letter-symbols and pictures of animals. This series of DVDs teaches the 44 speech sounds associated with letter-symbols in a fun way. The letter-symbols are presented on flashcards and graphics and heard in the stories from the I Read For Life book Story Time in the Land of Make Believe.
The videos use animation of “letter creatures” that live in the Land of Make Believe, real animals, music and actual teaching sessions at the I Read For Life Center. These videos are only one aspect of the I Read For Life program. They have proven to be very entertaining. Children and adults love watching them. An important element of the I Read For Life approach is fun. Thus the title: Sounds & Symbols - A fun way to learn to read!
A tried and proven cutting-edge method
The I Read for Life (IRFL) method of learning to read is a tried and proven way to develop reading skills. IRFL enables people of varying performance levels and ages to become better readers. The IRFL program is an evolved method of teaching phonics.
The IRFL approach differs from other reading programs in that IRFL presents “the big picture” from the very beginning. That is to say, from day one a student is taught all the letter-symbols associated with a single speech sound.
The IRFL program materials include workbooks, flashcards, wall banners, a song and games.These videos are best when used in conjunction with the other IRFL materials.

Mae Glidden, MS.
A graduate of Florida State University’s College of Communication, her work
with hundreds of children in Florida, California and the Cayman Islands led
her to develop this method of teaching people to read.
She is recognized as an education pioneer in the Cayman Islands.
